Cut the lime in half crosswise, then cut each half into quarters. Use 6 of the 8 pieces and reserve the remaining 2 for another use.

Place the 6 lime pieces in a shaker tin. Add the 0.75 oz Simple Syrup and 1 Sugar Cube, then gently muddle by pressing down and twisting slightly on each piece to flatten the lime and break down the sugar. Stop as soon as all pieces have been crushed.

Add the 2 oz Cachaça and shake with ice until well chilled.

Dump the entire contents — ice and muddled lime included — into a double Old-Fashioned glass. Serve with no garnish.
