Pour a small amount of Absinthe into a chilled Old-Fashioned glass, swirl to coat the inside, then discard the excess.

Combine the 1.5 oz Rye Whiskey, 0.5 oz Cognac, 1 tsp Demerara Syrup, 4 dashes Peychaud's Bitters, and 1 dash Angostura bitters in a mixing glass with ice and stir until well chilled.

Strain into the Absinthe-rinsed glass, served neat with no ice.

Express the lemon twist over the drink to release its oils, then discard the twist.
